SY 2019 – 2020 Material Collection

Attention rising 7th and 8th grade families and students who attended Oakland Mills Middle School last year:  Please read the information below regarding dropping off materials your child still has at home from the 2019-2020 school year. Before we can issue Chromebooks, instruments and other materials for this upcoming school year, we need to collect all items students are holding from 2019-20.  

Does your child have items from last school year that need to be returned?  Most students have novels from their ELA class, some have media center books, and others have instruments and other items. Please encourage your child to gather those items as it’s time to return them!  These items need to be collected next week to give us time to prepare for the distribution of new materials for the 2020-21 school year.

Below is our drop-off schedule and detailed procedures for returning materials. Further, during the drop-off process, it is critical that students and families maintain all social distancing practices, wear masks and remain in your cars.  

How and when do I return items? 

We have designated two time periods to collect items for your convenience:

  • Friday, August 28 from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM
    • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Last names that begin with A-H
    • 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM - Last names that begin with I - Q
    • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Last names that begin with R - Z
  • Friday, August 28 from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Last names that begin with A-H
    • 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Last names that begin with I - Q
    • 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Last names that begin with R - Z

Safety Procedures: Items to be returned must be placed in a plastic/shopping/grocery bag or box labeled with the following information:

  • Student First and Last Name
  • Description of Item
  • Item Number (If applicable. Can be found on inside of the front cover or on the spine)
  • Teacher's Name

What items should be returned?

We are only collecting items that belong to Oakland Mills Middle School, so only students who attended Oakland Mills Middle School last year should return items. We will not accept items that belong to another HCPSS school.

Instruments: If your child has an instrument that belongs to Oakland Mills Middle School and will remain in band/orchestra this upcoming school year at Oakland Mills Middle School he/she should keep the instrument.  Instruments should be returned if your child is not returning to Oakland Mills Middle School this school year.

Chromebooks (laptops): If your child has Chromebook and will remain in HCPSS (at OMMS or any HCPSS school) this upcoming school year, he/she should keep the Chromebook. Chromebooks should be returned in your child is not returning to any HCPSS school
